Movie research

This post is just to show anyone who's watching this how much actual effort I put into my fics.

I have spent the last two days researching era appropriate movies for "Standing in the Shadows".

The year I have the most current chapter set is 1997... therefore I had to research whether DVD was available at the time and the movies that were released that year as well.

Gakkō no Kaidan, 1995 (aka: Haunted School)
Mosura, 1996
Godzilla vs. Destroyah, 1995
Gamera: Region Shurai, 1996

The hard thing about it is finding the DVD release date for Japan. As of yet, I have no love. So I have to go by the film release date and hope for the best, assuming that Japanese film distributors are like their US counterparts, releasing the DVDs shortly after the first film run ends.

Originally, I was going to use Battle Royale but then I realized the timing was off as that film wasn't released until 2000 in Japan. So I had to change it.

This is what I do for you. This is what I put myself through... all for you.

And then y'all wonder why it takes me so long to update! ^_~

But I kid, it's all for the love.

Preview for Purgatory Ch. 18

I've already started on Purgatory's next chapter -- though don't get your hopes up for a update all that soon. It takes me awhile to crank this shit out.

We get to know a little bit more about our mysterious villain type ladies in the very beginning of this chapter. I'm a bit worried that I've repeated information already given in earlier chapters (though it could just be my own natural paranoia when it comes to writing). I don't really think I have or IF I have, I feel like it's good to reiterate it because I didn't spend THAT much time in previous chapters, plus it really elaborates their back-story a little -- plus, it's a fun, creepy little trip into the mouth of madness, as it were.

The villains of this piece, as I've designed them, are actually based a bit in mythology. Specifically, from early Greek/Roman/Christian mythology. I've tried hard not to make it TOO obvious, but this chapter does hint a little bit at their origins.

Anyway, tell me what you think!

YAY! SCENES FROM AN ABANDONED STORY! Which will never be finished! BE SAD!

I found this when cleaning out the cubby where I keep all my fanfic notes. It's an old scene I had in mind for Angel Wings before I discontinued it due to lack of interest.

I feel kinda sad not having it written somewhere, because it's a lovely little conversation between Squall and Rinoa. (Frankly, I always had the most fun writing dialog for those two. They're like the video game versions of Cary Grant and Rosalyn Russel from His Girl Friday. And if you haven't seen that movie... DO WHAT I DO! Go watch it NOW! NOA IMPLORES YOU.)

Anyway, it's a fun scene... so I present it here and only here, just for you. (No one has read or reviewed that story in ages. I doubt anyone even knows what I'm talking about. It's like I'm crazy or something... *sigh*)

So here's a disconnected snippet from an abandoned story that none of you have ever read. Have fun!

Oh, I should probably set it up. Honestly, I don't remember exactly where this bit goes. I think somewhere in Trabia just before the final battle or something. I'm not sure. Anyway, it was towards the end of the story. For those of you who have never played Final Fantasy VIII, you will be dreadfully confused. It's okay, though. I'm confused all the time and somehow it all works out for me.

Anyway, enjoy!

Snippets -- Rose of Midgar and untitled Sess/Kag

Sorry it's all double-spaced. I looks weird, but it's the best way to do it when writing it and stuff.

I'd also like to point out that this little scene was inspired by a bit in the Goonies. If you can find it, you win a prize!!

TEASE ME! )

Here's a few snippets from the as of yet untitled Sess/Kag story I've been working on. For those who have ever had children, whether they're yours or not, I think you'll have yourselves a bit of a laugh. The fist bit posted is based on real experience. I had a brother and a sister who were much younger than me: 14years and 12 years, respectively. There was more than one morning they decided I wasn't waking up fast enough, and they felt that the best way to get the ball rolling was to invade my bed and ask me pointless questions. You'll see where I'm going with this...

Aw, brief Inu/Kaggish moment there. I couldn't help but add that, though. It was just too good. I thought the recipe thing was funny, but knowing me, it isn't. Strange thing about my funny, it only works when I don't intend something to be funny. It's like, I trip on accident and therefore it's funny. But if I trip on purpose, not funny. Don't ask how it works. I don't even know.
